Sunday was a tragic day for all Brittany Murphy fans, family and friends. She had been the star of every girl’s favourite film ‘Clueless’ and tragically died aged 32 of a heart attack on Sunday. Since her death, rumours have been rife about what caused someone so young to die so suddenly. The finger has been pointed at prescription drugs, which cannot be confirmed until toxicology reports come through, there are claims that it was anorexia that killed the actress. And today, it has emerged that her husband Simon Monjack is to be questioned by police. One consistent theme is that the star had been deeply troubled and had allegedly become hooked on prescription drugs following plastic surgery. Whatever the cause it is a tragic loss. [Daily Mail]

Designers get the film bug
Once upon a time, designers found a model, that model became the face of a campaign and then a star was born. Today, designer finds attractive celebrity or starlet, films them and a news worthy advertising campaign is launched. Yes, things have moved on in the world of fashion and Donna Karen and Karl Lagerfeld are both feeling a little creative. Donna Karen has created a short film called ‘Four-Play’ which star Christina Ricci and is directed by Jake Sumner, son of Sting. It is to advertise the new Eldridge bag which can be worn in four different ways. To produce the short, Donna Karan partnered with People’s Revolution and Kelly Cutrone. Meanwhile Karl Lagerfeld has been filming Lara Stone stealing. In an advertisement for Chanel, Lara Stone and Baptiste Giabiconi are filmed speeding around Paris and stealing the Chanel pre-Spring collection. [WWD/Fabsugar]

Forget Gaga it’s all about SuBo
Grace Coddington is the woman who emerged as the star of ‘The September Issue’, as the vision behind Anna Wintour, the pair have an intriguing dynamic. In an interview with the Times, it emerged that another minor creative disagreement took place over the latest Vogue issue. For the December issue, Grace wanted none other than Susan Boyle to start as the wicked witch in their Hansel & Gretel special:
“Annie Leibovitz wanted her too, but I think Anna thought it was just all too British and not right.” Anna Wintour had different ideas, and chose Lady Gaga, talking about the eccentric popstar, Grace commented:
“I have to say I didn’t really know who Lady Gaga was. She turned up in a white rubber coat, stark naked underneath. No buttons, nothing — and completely you know, shaved, and this huge wig because she’s so insecure without it. But she was wonderful.”
Who would you have rather seen as the wicked witch? [TimesOnline]
Trim cardigan, £35, Jack & Jones
We’ve fallen head over heels for this cardigan. Normally we’re rather taken with the quirkier pieces, the ones that have ludicrous amounts of extra fabric just for the sake of it. But this cardigan is so simple, yet so very very chic. We’re not sure whether it’s the purple stripe detail, or the swirl motif, but it’s definitely one of those throw-it-on-and-look-cool pieces. Pair this little number with pretty much anything in your wardrobe for off duty style.

Christian Lacroix designer to the… railway workers?!
Lacroix has been having a bit of a tough year, the couture house was forced to close all couture and ready-to-wear line production due to financial difficulties. The company will now only act as a licensing operation for accessories and perfumes. But never fear you can still get your hands on Lacroix style, well if you work for French railway SNCF you can. All 20,000 employees will be getting the Lacroix treatment with a range of skirts, blouses, jackets and trousers, all in grey and purple. This is a long way from Christian Lacroix’s extravagant haute couture. What do you make of it? [FabSugarUK]
Your first kiss or your first pair of shoes?
Rather worryingly it has emerged, from research carried out by tszuji.co.uk, that women harbour memories of shoes more than boyfriends. 92% of women remember the first pair of shoes they bought with their own money, whilst only 63% of women remember who their first kiss was with. Even more extreme is that 96% of women regret throwing out a pair of shoes, whilst 15% feel sorry for dumping a boyfriend. This will be partly down to the fact that women tend to buy shoes for special occasions and so place an emotional importance on those shoes. Previous research has found other staggeringly accurate findings; the average woman has 19 pairs of shoes, but only wears four regularly, with a quarter of the shoe collection only being worn once. One in six women has more than 30 pairs of shoes, and on average women tend to purchase four pairs of shoes per year. But let’s be honest, you can never have too many shoes! [Daily Mail]
