The hottest beauty trend this season is a dramatic metallic hue, which is ideal for an evening look. Rock the shimmer on the eyes and create a flawless base for this statement look.

1. Blend a luminous foundation into the skin once you’ve moisturised. Buffing your foundation into the skin ensures it will last longer and look flawless.

2. Sweep a matte bronze eyeshadow across the entire lid, and really blend the edges out so there are no harsh lines.

3. Apply a shimmer eyeshadow over the matte hue to really make the eyes pop, and take this under the eyes for a smouldering look. Keep this colour close to the lash line and keep blending it out.

4. Enhance the lash line and upper crease with darker eyeshadow and blend this out for a seamless smokey eye.

5. Take a lighter shimmer cream eyeshadow and dab the center of your lid to add definition.

6. Apply lashings of black mascara on the top lashes.

7. Contour your cheekbones with a bronzer to add definition to the structure of your face. Make sure the bronzer compliments your skintone and blend this out well to avoid harsh lines.

8. Opt for a matte nude lipstick on your lips, and you’re ready for the evening ahead.

Alice Carroll

I'm Alice, Al or, if you are the five year old me, Ice (yes, I did want to be a member of Kris Kross, and yes, I did wear my jeans backwards). Womenswear Editor at House of Fraser Online, I've grown out of backwards clothes and instead chose to invest my money in vintage sportswear and bomber jackets, while inking my body with unnecessary tattoos and rapping along to every word of The Streets - Original Pirate Material. My proudest moments were seeing a shoot I styled in my favourite magazine and getting a three-dart-finish in a game of darts. Oh, and Bart Simpson was my first crush.
