Autumn/Winter Skincare for Different Skin Types

It is officially autumn; yet while the golden leaves create a picturesque carpet on the pavements and we can layer up in our new winter coats and scarves, the bitter wind can create complete havoc with our skin. Often transforming oily skin into something very dry and sensitive, most of us have to rethink our skincare routine as the seasons change. Here at House of Fraser it is skincare month, and we have picked our favourite skincare products to help you out for the icy winter period.

Dry/sensitive skin

Kick-start your daily routine with Sisley’s Lyslait Cleansing Milk. Specifically designed for dry and sensitive skin, it breaks down stubborn make-up and maintains the balance of delicate skin. Boasting results from the first use, your skin will feel radiant and soothed without feeling oily. Shiseido’s Hydro-nourishing Softener is an excellent toner which provides a smooth and dewy complexion, whilst exfoliating and restoring moisture to the skin. Give your skin a treat with Clarins’ HydraQuench Cream-mask, which hydrates the skin in just 10 minutes; perfect for a girly pampering night in.

Oily skin

Molton Brown’s Malachite Cleansing Gelle replaces oil and shine with rebalanced and clean skin by using mineral antioxidants, Enantia chlorantha bark and limes. Applying Perricone MD’s Intensive Pore Minimizer to your clean skin reduces the appearance of pores and absorbs excess oil. It gives a lasting effect, creating a face which is less shiny, less oily and remains fresh all day long. Putting oil on your face may seem backwards to those who suffer from oily skin, but Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil purifies and tightens the pores through an exclusive blend of rosewood, geranium and lotus extracts. Using this at night leaves your skin feeling rejuvenated in the morning.

Anti-aging

The Decleor Youth Cleansing Milk with Magnolia Essential Oil hydrates and plumps the skin to enhance youthfulness while it soothes and protects, helping your skin feel younger for longer. Follow up with La Prairie’s Advanced Marine Biology Tonic, which brightens and energises your skin with the vitamins, natural oils and marine-derived antioxidants inside. It’s imperative to invest in a good moisturiser which suits your skin type and your skin’s age; so when it comes to anti-aging products, you want something that works. Lancome’s Absolute Precious Cells reduces the appearance of deep wrinkles and firms the skin by stimulating the stem cells.

Alice Carroll

I'm Alice, Al or, if you are the five year old me, Ice (yes, I did want to be a member of Kris Kross, and yes, I did wear my jeans backwards). Womenswear Editor at House of Fraser Online, I've grown out of backwards clothes and instead chose to invest my money in vintage sportswear and bomber jackets, while inking my body with unnecessary tattoos and rapping along to every word of The Streets - Original Pirate Material. My proudest moments were seeing a shoot I styled in my favourite magazine and getting a three-dart-finish in a game of darts. Oh, and Bart Simpson was my first crush.
