Get The Look: Giorgio Armani Bright Ribbons Collection

Summer makeup can be daunting – bright lipsticks in more daring shades appear and the bronzer battle commences. We love a got-to natural look to avoid any overheated moments but where’s the fun in that?!

To add a ‘Brazilian Twist’ (Note: it’s not yellow eye shadow) to our summer makeup, we couldn’t think of anyone more fitting than Giorgio Armani’s National Face Designer, Cesar Santos, to create an exclusive Carnival of Colour look for House of Fraser.

A Brazilian native and having worked on Giorgio Armani Couture shows in Paris and Tokyo, we couldn’t be in safer hands. He wanted to create a fun summer-time look for the evening without pushing us too far out of our comfort zone – perfect! Our Online Category Executive, Heather Perry, sat down with a glass of fizz whilst being treated to a deep facial cleanse… such a hard life for some…

Once the skin was makeup free, Cesar applied some Regenessence Youth Regenerator 3R to ensure the skin was smooth and fully prepped. The first step was the Light Master Primer which makes the skin glow and creates the perfect blank canvas – it will keep your make up looking even and flawless all day! Cesar’s top tip when applying foundation and concealer was to apply concealer first and “contour the skin to lift the complexion and create a more natural look”. After applying the concealer he gently patted Maestro Fusion Foundation into any areas which needed more coverage. Adding blusher and powder really finished the natural base and left Heather glowing!

With the base complete, Cesar got to work on the eyes using the Waterproof Eye Pencil in Black. Large, carefree strokes were used to create a winged effect which was then smudged in – perfect for those of us who are less confident creating a polished line.

Once the eyes were lined, Cesar layered on 3 shades of purple Eyes to Kill shadows (13, 20, 21) to create a smoky lavender effect.

“Lavender really warms up the skin and is such a summery colour, it is a much more playful approach to the severe smoky eye”. The lighter lilac colour was used to highlight along the brow bone and really open up the eyes.

“The most important thing to do when creating statement eyes is curling the eyelashes – it gives a dramatic effect that is difficult to replicate only using mascara”, Cesar advised before applying the Eyes To Kill Mascara in 01 to the lashes. Used sparingly (remember to wipe off excess before) and working through the lashes quickly, meant they were lengthened and separated without any clumping.

Lastly the new Bright Ribbons Lipstick in 509 was applied to add a subtle pop of colour to Heather’s look, complete with a slick of Flash Lacquer Lip Lacquer in 102.

“Forget the rule about being only eyes or only lips – as long as they are not fighting against each other for attention, a smoky eye and a pink lip paired together look fresh and fun”.

The look that the lovely Heather is wearing is exclusive to House of Fraser so the ever knowledgeable Beauty Advisors on your local House of Fraser Giorgio Armani counter will be able to re-create it for you in a flash!

My name's Bianca, Menswear Editor. Contrary to belief, I love Eastenders but wasn't named after the character... heyday of hoops and ponytail quickly erased from memory. Times have changed (thankfully) and although I love beauty, I equally love a good men's oxford shirt and jacket or two, for myself of course. You'll now find me flicking through men's magazine pages and my favourites list is increasingly becoming male dominated. Dare I say, there's a lot to learn from their style...
