Grooming: Coping with winter skin

POST BY HOFSam

winter skin-main

No matter how tough you are, the winter can really effect your skin. But with a few simple steps you can keep your skin feeling smooth and hydrated. It’s important to get into some form of routine, and buy products which are suited to your specific needs. The men’s grooming market is growing rapidly but don’t become overwhelmed by the options, find out what suits you and stick to it. In the winter months you will need more hydration based, moisturising products because the harsh weather can really damage skin and leave it feeling uncomfortable.

The eyes:

Daily eye hydrator, £20, Clinique

Even when you’re wrapped up your eyes will always be peeping through, and they will be the worst hit. Use an eye cream during the colder months to stop the eye area from drying out.

Pre shave:

Exfoliating cleansing gel, £19.08, Decleor

You’ll still need to slough away all those dead skin cells, and this great gel will cleanse and exfoliate the skin. That means your skin will be clean, blemish free and smoother.

Post shave:

Post shave healer, £16, Clinique

Packed full of aromatic oils, this will help soothe the skin after shaving and prepare it for the day ahead.

Time to moisturise:

Moisture balm, £24, Clarins

This lightweight balm with not only lock in all that lovely moisture but it will also absorb really quickly, so you won’t be left with a greasy face.

Bedtime:

Night recovery lotion, £29.36, Lab Series

Work while you sleep, apply this cream every night and you will wake up with smooth, soft, nourished skin. What could be easier?

A little extra moisture:

Hydrating lotion, £24.50, Shiseido

Use this product under your moisturiser for an added hydration surge. If your skin has been particularly dry or you’re finding it feeling tight and sore, then try this out. After a couple of days you’ll wonder how you lived without it.

A helping hand:

Active hand care, £12, Clarins

It’s not just your face that can suffer, no one want to hold a chapped hand, so keep yours lovely and smooth with this wonder cream.
