Mama Mio : The Pregnancy Test

Mama Mio caters for all women, putting your skin as their number one priority. They also have a line dedicated for pregnant ladies, because pregnancy is the biggest challenge your skin will ever face. All the stretching, shrinking and hormones is tough on your body; Mama Mio is your secret weapon to strengthen and protect your skin so you feel gorgeous and special throughout your pregnancy and regain your former glory after baby arrives.

We put three Mama Mio products to the test.

Tummy Rub Stretch Mark Butter

I’ve been using the Tummy Rub Stretch Mark Butter for 8 weeks now, and at 27 weeks pregnant I remain stretch mark free. Who knows how much of a part genes and bad luck play in developing stretch marks, but so far so good! The cream is lovely and thick, and really smooth to apply; it absorbs really quickly and doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy like some of the oil alternatives can. The tub lasts very well too, especially as I really smother it on! It smells fresh and leaves my skin feeling really soft and supple afterwards, and the tone of my skin is thankfully remaining easy on the eye – long may that continue!

Boob Tube Bust & Neck Firmer

Having never used a cream like the Boob Tube Bust & Neck Firmer before, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. It’s designed to keep the skin on your breast and décolletage area firm and supple, and having been applying it for a few weeks now it certainly looks like it’s giving my skin a much healthier looking glow in that area. Being a busty bird, the top of my chest can get a bit crinkly first thing in the morning, but this has certainly helped to even it out.  The cream is smooth to apply and you don’t need a lot to do the job – obviously dependent on bust size!  I definitely think the tone of my skin has improved as the weeks have gone by, and you can even use it on your face too.

Lucky Legs Cooling Serum

The Lucky Legs Cooling Serum is my favourite item of the Mama Mio items. Whilst I’ve had a relatively trouble free pregnancy, I am suffering from aching legs, night cramps and restless leg syndrome – but a swift application of this cream gives relief to all of these things. The methanol, chamomile and aloe vera make this cream smell really soothing, and it has some sort of magical cooling effect that brings welcomed relief to heavy legs. My skin absorbs the serum very quickly and leaves my skin feeling ever so soft. It’s even got a touch of added sparkle too to add a bit of glam to what can otherwise be a fairly unglamorous period of your life!

I can’t let a review of these products pass without giving props to the packaging – it makes no difference to the quality of the product but they all look beautiful on the shelf, and are undoubtedly some of the nicest packaged toiletries I’ve ever had!

Alice Carroll

I'm Alice, Al or, if you are the five year old me, Ice (yes, I did want to be a member of Kris Kross, and yes, I did wear my jeans backwards). Womenswear Editor at House of Fraser Online, I've grown out of backwards clothes and instead chose to invest my money in vintage sportswear and bomber jackets, while inking my body with unnecessary tattoos and rapping along to every word of The Streets - Original Pirate Material. My proudest moments were seeing a shoot I styled in my favourite magazine and getting a three-dart-finish in a game of darts. Oh, and Bart Simpson was my first crush.
