Oily Skin: How to combat summer humidity with skincare

When it comes to your skin beating the heat, it’s best to start with the route of the problem. There may be long-lasting makeup products out there which definitely help, but take a second, go back to basics and take a look at skincare first.

If you have oily skin, the summer months can often be traumatic when it comes to keeping your makeup in place. However, even those of us with the driest of skin can be beaten by the heat on a warm, muggy day, which means none of us are safe when it comes to the shine.

Treat your skin to a weekly pamper with the Elemis Herbal Lavender Mask. Lavender is a natural ingredient which controls your skins oil levels, and smells fantastic too! Apply this mask once or twice a week in the evening to balance the pH levels; leave it on for just 10 to 20 minutes and your skin will feel refreshed and ready for your favourite serum.

The Elemis Balancing Lavender Toner has a similar effect due to the key ingredient being lavender. This can easily be slotted into your daily skincare routine after moisturising, in both the evening and the morning. This instantly leaves your skin feeling smooth, with not a trace of oil in sight.

The Sisley Global Perfect Pore Minimizer reduces the appearance of pores, which in turn helps combat excess oil. This also has a slight lavender scent, which is the active ingredient in this serum, and makes the product smell absolutely delicious. This can be used in the evening and in the morning, when it’s most effective.

Do you suffer from oily skin in the summer months? How do you combat it?

I'm Alice, Al or, if you are the five year old me, Ice (yes, I did want to be a member of Kris Kross, and yes, I did wear my jeans backwards). Womenswear Editor at House of Fraser Online, I've grown out of backwards clothes and instead chose to invest my money in vintage sportswear and bomber jackets, while inking my body with unnecessary tattoos and rapping along to every word of The Streets - Original Pirate Material. My proudest moments were seeing a shoot I styled in my favourite magazine and getting a three-dart-finish in a game of darts. Oh, and Bart Simpson was my first crush.
