Tried & Tested: Pure Color Envy by EstAi??e Lauder

It’s taken a long time to find the perfect lipstick, especially a red one. Endless review hunting and edit-trawling and they’ve still never worked for me, but this is where Pure Colour Envy comes in. You may be thinking the same right now but I promise this is a collection you will fall for.

There are three fundamental things to consider when buying a lipstick; most obviously colour but staying power and the finish.

I’m testing Envious and Intense Nude – the image on the left doesn’t quite do the red justice and I always avoid nudes anyway as they tend to wash me out. The right, however, is more of a true match to what the lipstick looked like when on. With a pinky undertone, you didn’t feel like the red was too overpowering, despite it being intense. Next to it is the colour matched lip liner, which is essential to forming the perfect lip.

This lip liner comes with an attached brush (not pictured) which is pointed for extra precision. I had the seperate lipstick brush but found there was no need for it during application. The texture of the lipstick is extremely smooth and creamy but without too much shine. It glides on easily and one layer is pretty much enough, however if you want a stronger look, apply more.

I only had to top up the lipstick once in the day and had endless compliments on the colour, so overall it was a total winner! A little attractive addition to these is the magnetic lid – there’s no losing it again.

Perfect Red lip tips:

  • When ready to apply your lipstick, add a touch of foundation with a brush onto your lips and dust some pressed powder on top.
  • Line your lips with the lip liner and lightly colour in with the pencil.
  • Apply your lipstick either straight from the stick or with a brush.
  • Run round the lip line with a foundation brush to get the lines completely neat and top up with pencil if necessary.

Is red your favourite lip colour?

My name's Bianca, Menswear Editor. Contrary to belief, I love Eastenders but wasn't named after the character... heyday of hoops and ponytail quickly erased from memory. Times have changed (thankfully) and although I love beauty, I equally love a good men's oxford shirt and jacket or two, for myself of course. You'll now find me flicking through men's magazine pages and my favourites list is increasingly becoming male dominated. Dare I say, there's a lot to learn from their style...
