What’s in my Makeup Bag – Carolyn, Category Manager

This week we caught up with Carolyn, our Online Childrenswear Manager, who loves all things beauty. When it comes to new makeup launches she knows her stuff, and with her wedding on the horizon we knew she would have some beautiful beauty products on hand. We just couldn’t wait to take a peek in her makeup bag…

I have a slight obsession with concealer, and I find MAC the best for those emergency face days. I love MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NW20 and I also use Studio Finish Concealer in NW15. Bobbi Brown Creamy Corrector is also great for dark circles; I’m in the shade light to medium bisque.

In my makeup bag I also have…

Chanel Inimitable Mascara
This creates gorgeous lashes for an everyday look

Nars Lipgloss in Super Orgasm
If I feel like a subtle pink lip, this lipgloss is quick and easy to apply

Kiehl’s Actively Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream in Fair
As the days are getting warmer, a BB cream is a perfect alternative to my usual foundation

MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow in Winter Pursuit
This gives a hint of colour to the lids if I need to touch up during the day

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer
This primer helps my makeup stay put all day long

AlsoBenefit Coralista, Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Cocoa, Nars Deep Throat, MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Compact Foundation in NC20, Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner Black Ink & MAC Lipstick in Lovelorn

What’s your favourite beauty product at the moment?

At the moment it has to be Benefit Coralista. It’s an old favourite that I return to each summer, and it’s a great way to warm up the complexion as an alternative to bronzer if you have pale skin. It also smells amazing!

What beauty launch are you most looking forward to this year?

I always love the Bobbi Brown eyeshadow palettes, so I will be looking out for a seasonal treat!

What’s on your beauty wish list?

At the moment in my shopping basket is Laura Mercier Invisible Loose Setting Powder. I am getting married soon and I have heard that this is the best finishing powder for photography.

Do you have any top beauty tips?

I always set under-eye concealer with loose or pressed powder; it helps to stop creases forming. I use a large fluffy eyeshadow brush for more precision.

Alice Carroll

I'm Alice, Al or, if you are the five year old me, Ice (yes, I did want to be a member of Kris Kross, and yes, I did wear my jeans backwards). Womenswear Editor at House of Fraser Online, I've grown out of backwards clothes and instead chose to invest my money in vintage sportswear and bomber jackets, while inking my body with unnecessary tattoos and rapping along to every word of The Streets - Original Pirate Material. My proudest moments were seeing a shoot I styled in my favourite magazine and getting a three-dart-finish in a game of darts. Oh, and Bart Simpson was my first crush.
