Breakfast is the best place to start as numerous studies show that a balanced breakfast can set you up for the day, making it less likely that youai??i??ll need to reach for sugary snacks to keep you going.

Our Very Berry Better Body Antioxidant-Charged Smoothie is ai??i?? true to its name ai??i?? packed with nutrition; from bacteria-fighting enzymes in the bio yoghurt to low-fat protein in the almond milk and flaked almonds; the energy-boosting, potassium-rich bananas to the sweet, antioxidant-fuelled and vitamin-rich berries, this smoothie is a powerful, body-boosting wonder. Not only is it good for your body, helping to keep your heart, brain, digestive system, skin, hair and nails healthy, it is also very low in fat and sugar and absolutely delicious.

Try it with: If you fancy a slightly larger breakfast, up the fibre content and layer your smoothie on top of Scottish porridge oats or sugar and salt free muesli for extra energy.


A Very Berry Better Body Antioxidant-Charged Smoothie

Serves 2 – 4



A? a large banana

100ml almond milk (or skimmed, soy, rice if preferred)

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 tbsp low fat or fat-free bio yoghurt

90g fresh blueberries

75g fresh raspberries

2 tsp agave syrup (or dark honey)

A? tsp lemon juice


To serve:

2 tsp flaked almonds

A handful of mixed fresh blueberries and raspberries



Place the banana, lemon juice, almond milk, yoghurt and agave syrup into a blender or a processor and blend till the mixture is thick and creamy. Add the fresh berries and vanilla, blitz again till smooth and combined. Serve topped with a sprinkle of flaked almonds and a handful of mixed fresh berries. If you like a thinner smoothie, simply add a little more milk and taste to test.

Mix it up: Have a go at creating your own combinations of fruits, yoghurt, milk and even pure fruit juices; let your imagination run wild. Happy smoothie blending!
