The coat
The foundation of every kids’ winter wardrobe, the coat is a high stakes item. Buy one that’s too thin and it’ll be hard to keep kids warm, not waterproof and they will be miserable. With lots of activities in your family's upcoming schedule, consider having a least two coats for your little one: a practical puffer or a parka that’ll work for the school playground and weekend trips, and a smarter iteration that’ll suit parties, events and the like. We’re big fans of a faux-fur coat and smart bomber jacket for all the festive occasions coming up.
The knit
Knitwear, needless to say, is a cold-weather essential. While we might just reach for the nearest wool number, for kids, pay attention to fabric. Nylon and acrylic can go staticky and pure wool can be itchy. Get kids to try on new knitwear before you invest.
Sweatshirts can be the perfect winter layer. Channel mini-me with a logo version or opt for a cute critter or printed design. Little ones will be so happy with them that getting ready in the mornings will be a walk in the park.
The boots
Winter walks through frosty forests are crying out for a great pair of boots. Make sure your children have wellies and thick socks for when it’s sleeting. Sturdy soles are great for grip and fleece-lined ones will give ounces of cosiness. Consider a polished pair for school and parties – helping them put their best foot forward at every occasion. We kind of wish the black numbers came in our size too.
With the coat, jumper and boots sorted, the family can dive straight into all that winter has to offer. We'll see you on the tobogganing slope.
