Everything you need to know about sports bras

With a whole host of gym classes available, choosing the right sports bra can be something of a challenge in itself. Wearing the wrong style or size can really sabotage your fitness routine, whatever your bust size, so being equipped with the right support can make a world of difference when it matters most (read: no straps chafing during a run and no restricted movement in yoga). Don't sweat it, follow our handy guide to find the right sports bra for your workout.

Low impact
Activities like yoga or Pilates require equally dynamic, unrestrictive gear to allow freedom of movement. Try sports bras in soft, breathable fabrics, which allow stretch and movement, and opt for either spaghetti straps, that will move with you, or thick, adjustable straps which you can adapt depending on the type of yoga you're doing. Comfort is key here.

Medium impact
Medium support bras are great for activities like weight training or body weight training where movements are slow and controlled but not high impact. You'll still need a bra that holds everything in place in order to be able to take on those big weights, but leaves enough room that you won't feel too constricted when it comes to your cleans and lifts.

High impact
For high-intensity workouts, get your bra wrong and we’re talking pain, soreness, aches and even irreversible sagging. Make sure your bra can hold its own when you know you’ll be doing a lot of running or plyometrics and make sure you get properly fitted.
