Sleek suiting

Suits for work? Groundbreaking. But bear with us. This season they've had something of a refresh, with tonal trouser iterations appearing everywhere this fashion week; proving it's the perfect look for any office dweller needing to pop  between desk, meetings, and after-work cocktails with ease.

While we will always have time for the expensive-looking power of a matching trouser suit, influencer Leonie Hanne has convinced us that what we should really be doing is mixing and matching our separates. Keep the look on the right side of intentional with a classic white blouse and some some on-trend gold chain jewellery. Hanne's comfortable-meets-sophisticated approach to suiting makes this a perfect option to wear in and out of the office, morning to night.

Timeless outerwear

We all know the feeling of being dressed completely inappropriately for dashing to a meeting in the rain. So it’s always best to make sure that your layering game is just as strong as what’s underneath. Luckily for us practical types, one outerwear trend that's dominating street style images right now is the classic trench coat. Timeless and easy to wear, a trench ticks the boxes for both practicality and style. Not to mention that it has the ability to make just about anything look polished and put-together, even your trusty-but-beaten-up converse.

Take your styling tips from the street-style set who are wearing their trenches long and oversized to make room for layering. We love the idea of hitting multiple trends in one by styling with a blue shirt tucked into wide trousers or jeans and finish with a feminine silk scarf wrapped around your neck or your handbag.

All dressed up

Every fashion girl knows that a great dress not only looks contemporary and cool (even in the most corporate of offices), but an all-in-one outfit can also shave precious minutes off your morning routine. And if you're desperate to slip back into wearing dresses in the wake of winter, we've taken note of a particular combination that a few of our favourite street-style stars have been reworking them for cooler climes.

Dress-and-blazer outfits are on the upswing, and it's one pairing that you'll want to work into your spring workwear wardrobe as soon as you can. Whether you're wearing pretty pastels like Jeanette Friis Madsen, the creative director of Rotate Birger Christensen, or an above-the-knee cut with western boots (brave, we know but it works), a blazer has the power to transform an outfit instantly into something completely office-appropriate. Just grab a chic and slouchy hobo bag and you're good to go.

50 shades of white

As easy as it is to reach for all-black outfits in the depths of winter, this spring we're challenging you to switch to the lighter side of monochrome and make shades of white and cream key staples in your wardrobe. If you tend to avoid white for fear of the occasion stain, perhaps the flock of street style stars championing the trend will change your mind.

We particularly love the look of this cream roll-neck jumper tucked into a utility-style midi skirt with a pair of tan leather boots but you can easily mimic the look with some relaxed white jeans. Just slip on a similar hued jumper or cardigan and add a smart coat. Finish with some
black, tan or khaki accent accessories to tie it all together and head out the door knowing this power look you can take to the office or out for drinks.
