Can’t Resist: Lace up shoes

Whether it’s a mountaineer or Victorian style, we can’t resist a lace up shoe. Boots, brogues, or courts, if they have laces we want them.
It might be because there’s a schoolgirl charm to laces, or that they seem really rather sexy even when they’re paired with a chunky boot (Rihanna’s look is best avoided however). But there’s no denying the allure of the lace.
Brogues

Brogues are having a bit of a fashion moment. Ever since Alexa and Agyness walked out in them, fashionistas have been clambering over themselves to nab a pair of fashionable, wearable, comfortable shoes, because remember practical fashion is a rarity. Team your brogues with a tea dress for a wartime feel or jeans and a blazer for an off duty on trend look.
Ankle boots

Who doesn’t love an ankle boot? They came along and saved us from going out dilemmas. Whether you’ve got a mini dress on or a pair of 7/8 jeans the ankle boot is a hero piece. Victoriana ones are great if you’re looking for comfort and style, but towering high will turn your legs into supermodel proportions.
Mid calf boots

Mountaineer and biker boots were all over the AW09 catwalks, and that’s because they look seriously cool and are totally wearable. Team this style with huge oversized chunky knits, perfect with denims or floaty dresses. The toughened style is right for those who want a boot to see them through the whole season.
Knee high boots

Lace up knee high boots have come a long way. They now look fashion forward and relaxed rather than overtly sexy. Wear with skinny jeans or a daytime dress, these aren’t really ideal for an evening look, but are a must for serious shopping. These boots you will keep in your wardrobe and pull out year after year.
