In celebration of the ever so stylish Sophie Ellis-Bextor collaborating with one of our fave hosiery brands Pretty Polly we were lucky enough to meet her down at our Oxford St store on Friday 6th March. Here were a few things we picked her brain about…
What inspired you to design a collection for Pretty Polly? I have always been a fan of the brand and getting the opportunity to design my own tights is something I’ve always wanted to do.
What is your favourite piece in your wardrobe? I have lots of things I love but my touring outfits have the happiest association. Last year I wore a sparkly leotard made by the amazing team at Strictly as well as a customized Austrian folk dress. They were both at different ends of the spectrum but I worked to incorporate the style of my last album wanderlust and my disco side, too.
Who is your style icon? My mum. She’s always worn clothes I love and she has never played it too safe which I think I have inherited from her!
What’s your biggest fashion faux pas? I’ve made many! The look that springs to mind is when I had a brief moment as a teenager in lumberjack shirts and big boots. It wasn’t very convincing.
What’s your ‘go to’ brand? If money were no object, Miu Miu, Chanel, Valentino, Dolce and Gabanna… in real life, urban outfitters and Topshop.
