There is no better feeling than finally stepping out of your socks and heavy boots, into something where you feet can be free and are allowed to breath. Unfortunately most of us can’t walk around in flip flops all day pretending to be on a beach, and our summer footwear needs are varied and wide. To help you decide what should be your summer footwear of choice for 2013, we asked three shoe experts what will be on their feet this summer…
Illustrator Aimee Baegrie, whose work has appeared in Company Magazine and is showcased here, tells us that “the shoe that I love this season is the KG Kitty Platforms; they are so different and would work with so many outfits. Perfect for summer!”
Deborah Pulleyblank, Head of the School of Art at the University Centre Doncaster and lecturer on the BA (Hons) Fashion and Textiles Design, always keeps an eye on the catwalk; “having looked at the trends for 2013 I think that the high wedge sandal, loafer and classic colourful court shoes will emerge as the leading trends as they compliment the catwalk inspired fashions that are the big stories for the season. I am a big Kurt Geiger fan as I find the his ranges imaginative, on trend and affordable.”
Native Australian Amanda Overs runs the ‘I CAN MAKE SHOES’ school and thinks “we are going to see lots of mid heel chunky sandals this season and the KG Nina Sandal is a Spring/Summer winner! Comfort is this biggest thing for me, as shoes can really make or break someones day, there is nothing worse than being out in shoes that are rubbing or too tight.”
