After months of planning and prepping, last week saw the House of Fraser AW13 Press Day showcase the hottest collections for AW13. Rich jewel colours, luxurious faux fur and on-trend knits had us longing for winter before summer has even started. It wasn’t just the clothes that were the objects of our affection though; exquisite accessories and lust-worthy bags caused much excitement among press and the HoF team alike.
So what to expect for AW13 from House of Fraser? Bold prints don’t seem to be going anywhere so if you have bought into them this SS13, get set to sport them all through winter and beyond. It’s about the cover-up though for AW13; wear prints on bomber jackets or resurrect the on-trend biker with a opulent jacquard print. There was also an abundance of sparkle on offer too and it’s never to early to start planning your Christmas party outfit. Sequins popped up on jersey sweaters and glamorous party dresses so whether you prefer subtle bling or full-on sequins there is something for everyone come autumn.
Bold Print or Statement Sparkle
When it came to the handbags, we were spoilt for choice. Biba offered up eye-catching prints and opulent embellishment whereas Pied a Terre was at it’s sophisticated best with hues of rich burgundy or candy pink on luxe leather totes and party perfect clutch bags. The new collection from Mary Portas was minimalist heaven with clean lines and block colours on practical shopper bags and pouches.

Each collection always contains some stand out pieces that you just know everyone will love and AW13 was no different. This Biba Jacquard Dress drew lots of attention due to its simple shape and stunning print. Practical and fashion fashion forward is always a golden ticket and this Label Lab Jacket with leather sleeves caught the eye of many as did this polka dot ensemble. If you find print clashing too much, this demonstrates how matching your prints can be just as statement and the Untold Dress and Dickins & Jones Blouse are available to buy now if you want to get ahead give this look a go.
What the Press Loved
What the press loved: Biba Jacquard Dress, Label Lab Jacket and Untold Dress
AW13 looks set to be all about the neck. Not literally of course, but neck adornment is as on-trend as ever. Statement necklaces have been causing a stir for the past few seasons and AW13 is even bigger and better. Oversize jewels and heavy embellishment adds interest to a simple tee or silk blouse. If bling isn’t your thing, time to get buttoned up with a collar. Either fake it with a removable one in a interesting print or opt for a leather collar for instant edge. We loved this Pied a Terre blouse with contrasting sheer fabric and leather collar.
It’s All About the Neck
