It’s time to go back to basics. To have a great wardrobe you need to start with a perfect base, and that means investing in wardrobe staples which you can pull out time, and time again.

The cardigan:

A longer length cardigan is the perfect throw it on for everything from jeans, to shorts to party dresses. It can even look good with an oversized shirt, tights and heels, we keep one at home, and one in our drawer at the office for if ever we get chilly or fancy a style change. Just throw it on and you’re good to go.

The legging:

Who can deny the power of the legging? Only a few years ago were they the most ridiculous of creations, but now, we couldn’t live without them. Choose super soft jersey ones and wear lounging around, to the office, shopping, on a night out with heels. Leggings are the ultimate staple.

The rib vest:

Do we really need to sing the praises of the rib vest? You already know that your wardrobe can’t function without a few in various colours. We advise that you pick up a couple in black, a couple in white, and then a couple in some bright shades. With a variety of vests you can layer up any look, perfect for any season.

It’s always worth investing in a motif tee or two. They are perfect for pairing with jeans when you need a casual look. They are that failsafe style that you can always go to when you’re stuck for what to wear. Team a monochrome tee with sky high ankle boots for a rock chick feel, or converse pumps for an off duty style.

The skinny jean:

Remember the days when you relied solely on bootcut jeans? How times have changed. Now we couldn’t cope without the skinny jean, it can take you from boardroom to bar and back again, it’s a wonder of fashion engineering. Wear with pretty much anything and everything in your wardrobe for a stylish look.
