1. We're dishing the gloss

Kurt Geiger London Ringo Ankle Boots

Our wardrobe’s about to get a whole lot shinier. Trousers, heels, coats... you name it, we want it glossy. Lacquered fabrics are having their moment next season. Paired with other tactile materials like wools and tweeds, the contrast looks super sharp. Sound a little intimidating? A patent ankle boot or leather skirt is an easy way to test the water.

Kurt Geiger, London Ringo Ankle Boots, £179

2. I woke up like this

It’s a lazy girl’s dream come true, PJs are now totally acceptable grown up attire, (although Jenna Rink was wearing a silk slip with a coat long before now). There's plenty of ways to make this trend work for you. A lace camisole with jeans creates a great contrast of slinky and tough or perhaps try a silk robe or kimono as a jacket for a chic alternative.

3. This ain't my first rodeo

Coming Soon

Saddle up, the western trend has returned. A subtle nod is more than ample – from a neckerchief that finishes off an ensemble to a wide-brimmed hat and star print pieces. Take small mementos from the larger look and merge them into your wider wardrobe - they will forever look great with classic denim. And when it comes to boots, keep your eyes to the ground, cowboy boots are set to be fall's must-have shoe.

4. Don't be a wallflower

Whistles Lenno Print Naya Button Dress

Who says florals are for spring? They’re being amped up and are heading over to the dark side for autumn. So take this as your warning to invest in a great midi dress to team with trainers now, then everything from trusty leather jackets and boots to slouchy knits and cardigans later. Come the weekend, slip on some heels and you have yourself an adaptable wardrobe wonder.

Whistles, Lenno Print Naya Button Dress, £139

5. Star spangled

Mint Velvet Black Camo Sequined Jacket

Think sequins and metallics have a party-wear only policy? Not this season, it's officially time to add some day-time dazzle into your style repertoire. The unexpected daylight appeal of metallic with natural textures is striking and perfect for desk-to-drinks dressing.

Mint Velvet, Black Camo Sequined Jacket, £139

6. Say it out loud

Logomania has hit us hard this season, with branding back in full force for fall as a plethora of designer logos are primed to take us back to the early noughties. This recent wave of nostalgia has also got us swooning over our long forgotten love of bum bags, logo tees and old-school trainers.

7. Layer it on thick

French Connection Antique Dyed Slouchy Western Jacket

We'll be stepping up the layering game this autumn and trying two coats on for size. Sound like warm work? Living large has its advantages – your chance of catching a chill this autumn is very slim. It might not sound too welcome a thought right now – but when the winter chill kicks in, you’ll be grateful for this trend, trust us.

French Connection, Cherie T-shirt, £25
French Connection, Antique Dyed Slouchy Western Jacket, £110

8. Ditch the stiff upper lip

Coming soon

The habitually dependable and Balmoral-esque heritage tweeds, plaids and scarf prints have left behind any previous signs of being typically passé or out of date and have been reincarnated with doses of contemporary styling options leaving us feeling more heritage chic than an extra from The Crown.

9. Pick and mix your pallets

Coming soon

Sometimes the best match is a mismatch. We're seeking out unusual colour matches this season, taking on unorthodox fusions from acid pink and tan, to shamrock green and fuchsia. Dark, earthy tones will be making sparring partners out of unexpected colour pops to give our style portfolio a shot of the unexpected.

10. Unleash your animal Instinct

Free People Loveless Printed Leopard Print Midi

Leopard print has been king of the fashion jungle for pre fall and our love for the Debbie Harry era staple shows no sign of fading as we head into colder climes. Animal print has achieved a practically neutral status that can be added to a multitude of colours and prints to elevate just about any look. There are plenty of zoological motifs to try, from zebra to snake, so take a walk on the wild side.
