Winter sparkle

Bring some wow factor to your roasties with a decadent winter wonderland table setting. More is more here, so make your dining room shimmer and shine using glittery baubles, iridescent decor and mixed metallics. It's a modern take on the traditional frozen winter snowscape, which means teaming an icy palette of whites and frosty silvers with soft, pale pinks and pops of gold.

A tip from the experts: having a defined colour scheme will add an air of sophistication and create a polished look, so make sure you stick to it even when it comes to the small details. We’ve opted for white dinnerware, diamond-cut glass and sparkly placemats to create an icy, snow-dusted scene.

Get creative with your centrepiece and mix and match different design elements as much as your space allows. Fill a vase with sparkly baubles, try an unexpected item like this gold geometric candleholder, and - if you're feeling adventurous - throw in an ornate Christmas swan for good measure. But the real talking point is the hanging arrangement of extravagant iridescent ornaments and glittery crowns that really makes the space pop.

Christmas simply wouldn't be Christmas without ample crackers. Add one cracker to each place setting, either popped on an empty plate, to the side or at the top of your setting, to ensure your dinner goes off with a bang. Just make sure they coordinate with the rest of your set-up. Trust us, this will be your prettiest table yet.

A twist on the traditional

The traditional red, green and white Christmas table is always a crowd-pleaser, and this year’s update embraces the kind of old-school charm that reminds us of our childhood Christmases. Pairing natural touches like eucalyptus stems, pine cones and crimson berries with classic white dinnerware, quirky retro ornaments and soft, glowing lights, creates a warm, comforting scheme with a playful, vintage edge.

The key to seamlessly blending your table setting with the wider room décor is festive foliage – lots and lots of it. A garland can be used instead of a runner or placed on top of your mantlepiece. Look out for ones with fun additions like berries, artificial snow and twinkling lights. And don’t forget about wreaths – a festive classic that will make a fab centrepiece too, especially with candles layered up inside. Just be sure not to overcrowd the table - you still want to be able to reach the cranberry sauce with ease.

Christmas tree decorations aren’t just for the tree anymore. Think outside the box and use them for creating centrepieces; dot them around the table or do what we’ve done here and hang them from a suspended, sturdy branch to create an impact. Felt ornaments, Nutcracker figures and candy canes conjure up an endearing mix of fun and nostalgia that really brings this setting together. Consider your Christmas served.
